Re: $500.00 for dist cap & rotor???
Well that makes it sound a little better! No carbon tracks , and the crack is sorta between two of the contacts not interferring with either. And it fires, runs a little rough but maybe plugs and wires will help some. type III ignition so no points, hasn't been run in water under load in at least 1-2yrs. When I got it shot it a little gas and hooked up battery that was still in it and it fired right up , took a little coaxing to get it to idle but I blame that on a cold start

, didn't pump water so i ordered a new impeller and in the meantime picked up a new/used lower unit which was just rebuilt seals, pump etc. end of last year. Had to change shift shaft because of different top connection but got it on , fired it up and it pumps water like morning wood

. had to replace exhaust cover gaskets because they were leaking. Still messing with choke because when you push the button to choke it to start the butterflies only close about half way. I can see the little stop thing that goes up into the solenoid and it is bottoming out, can that be adjusted? Because when you try to start it cold it won't start and I am assuming it is because choke doesn't fully choke it and you got to give it a tiny squirt of gas and then it fires right up and goes and when it warms up it will fired right back up no problem. Any ideas?
