Hi.
I've read the sticky on transmission set up but I have a question.
I put this engine back together after changing lower seals.
It appears to me the engine is shifting backwards.
Do I have the shifter cam in upside down?

How can I tell if my indexing is correct? The shift cam fell out of place so there's a 50 / 50 chance my rebuild gets it right.....

Well, if anyone is interested, what I have (and, I believe from Mercury, I don't know of anyone else inside this engine) is a hybrid of parts that Mercury must have thrown together as surplus. Or the good ol' Monday or Friday build. lmao
I have a shift cam and cam follower, not identified as mine under my serial number.
I have a bushing, 23-813696A 2, which is not identified as mine under the serial number.
Poor guys in Parts Department have no idea how to help me. I have to piece together a parts list based on what I have and see.
Ugh. Mercury. Go figure.
