Did you check the fuse? She's probably going to need some ignition work ie: points, condensers, coils, plugs and plug wires. Check the compression first (before you spend any money). If that's good, the other stuff isn't that expensive and you can install it yourself.

The 73 50 hp has mag cd, not points, condensers and ect. The first thing you should do is find a Black/Yellow wire going to your power pack and disconnect that from the pack. You may have to remove the pack cover if you still have one. This elimates the boat wiring system and if you still have no spark you'll have to trouble shoot the ignition system on the mtr. Spark should jump a 7/16 " open air gap. Also check the compression first as Oldcat said to make sure you have something to work with.

I have the same motor and the same problem.I have messed with it off and on and have come to the conclusion its either the stator or the trigger I think they call it..If you figure out what your problem is let me know...Thanks

That engine must turn over at least 300 rpm in order for the stator under the flywheel to energize the powerpack/ignition. Spark is always to be tested with the spark plugs removed.

If you're doing the above and still having no spark, disconnect the large RED electrical cable at the engine, then crank the engine testing for spark by jumping the starter solenoid. If you now have spark, the usual problem is a shorted ignition switch. If still no spark, it's usually a failed powerpack.
