We had the boat out last Sat for beautiful day, the boat ran great. Then we went out with friends on Monday. Idling out of the harbor it started gurgling and running rough then quit. It started right back up, I put it in neutral and stabbed the throttle a few times and there was hesitation. Like with a carbureted engine. This is a 2005 EFI engine. It seemed to clear up so we went about our merry way, just tooling around, poking along sometimes, full throttle some times. All seemed okay, but then as we were finishing up for the day and heading back, at 3/4 throttle it started gurgling again and then the prop would lose its bite, back of throttle and it would it again when you applied throttle.
at the end of last summer it would lose bite, i figured it was due to an old prop that was not quite true, i had put it in the mud a couple times and had to rebuilt the water pump. So at the beginning of this year i put a new prop on and for the first three-four trips out we were in heaven. Not one single issue, no those trips were just the two of us, the trips that the prop lost bite there were four adults on board. the placard says it allows 7 people on board.
Anyway looking for ideas before I take it to the shop, thanks
