50HP pull a skier? sunbird 15ft

Hello I curently own a 87 bass tracker (aluminum) with a 35HP. I am considering selling it and buying a (1990) 15 foot sunbird (fiberglass open bow)with a 50HP outboard. I am not sure if this boat is for me it is a little small but I am very limited on money and this may be my only option, other than keeping the tracker. Anyway I am consirned about top speed and the ablity to pull a skier or a knee board. net weight of boat is 1,111lbs I would be using the boat in the intercoastal waterway in NC might not be the best choice for the small boat but its got to be better than my tracker. Any sigestions will be considered. Boat is for sale $1500 OBO figure could get it for $1250 and sell the tracker for $950 or so. Thanks

With the right prop it should certainly pull you out on two skis (unless you're about 6'8" - 350) but I wouldn't expect to do much slaloming unless you're good at dropping a ski. Kneeboarding should be fine...<br />- Scott

Take it for a test ride, at least an hour. You buy the gas just to keep things friendly. Insist on trying it out with a skier. Tell them the whole deal hinges on its ability to pull a skier.<br /><br />Then you will know for sure.

well, I dont actualy know how to ski or know anyone that does I just want to know if it can. Also what about top speeds the tracker will run about 23 loaded with a couple people in it. I would like to run about 35mph

I was able to pull a skier with a 40 on an old DUO runabout. Had to drop a ski for slalom.<br /><br />HAd lots of fun with that boat whe I was still in HS
