I just got a trailer for my 14ft Indian River fiberglass canoe with a square stern. I have been running an old Johnson outboard on it that weighs about 55 lbs. It sits on it fine in the water- no problems. If I transport it on a trailer with it attached in place on the stern will moderate road bouncing cause the stern to crack or give way under the weight of the motor? I really would like to avoid having to move it if I can.

with proper bunk support under the transom, and a transom saver, it should be ok.

If your trailer doesn't have bunks under the transom I would remove the engine for trailering and place it in the bottom of the canoe with a cushion under it.

Check with the manufacturer of the canoe. 50lbs bouncing around on the end of a canoe seems excessive to me.
