Hey guys, I have one of these 50's model 15hp Fastwin outboards (54 or 55 I think) and my lower unit cover at the very bottom has a hole in the side of it. I've tried patching the hole and it seems to keep leaking. Where can I get one of these or what can I do to fix the hole? Any ideas?

By hole, do you mean a puncture? Did it freeze and crack? Is it large or small? I've had success patching small holes with JB Weld or Marine Tex. But, you must remove the part and thoroughly clean it. Soaking in lacquer thinner helps. The aluminum is porous and soaks up a bit of oil over time, so getting a clean, slightly rough surface for the epoxy to stick to is important.

Some cracks can be welded by a skilled aluminum welder.
