Just revived this model 4443 Evinrude 7.5 hp Fleetwin. Runs like a champ but I will need to replace the waterpump.......its weak. Can one of you folks supply me with a part number for the hard to find impeller? I have heard mention that one can be made from an existing and easier to find impeller. Who can fill me in on that information? Thanks for any help.

'54 and up is different. Try Sea-Way Marine or Engine Blade and Prop.

Yes, that is the one. Two modifications needed. The bore needs to be opened up just a hair to clearance onto the driveshaft. Also, the side-view profile of the impeller needs to be shaved down a bit to match the original impeller. I did mine by laying it on a belt sander and trimming it down. I flipped it regularly so it took equal amounts off both sides. I did mine by eyeballing it, using the original as a gauge, but you could use a micrometer if you wanted to get it exact. My Fleetwin peed like a racehorse when it was done!

Like I said. A correct one needs no modifications. Go get the right one. Sea-Way marine or Engine Blade and Prop

Doing these kinds of mods are well enough for us experience OB mechanics, but thhe average guy.......nahhh,

I have not found "new" impellers for the older Fleetwins. I have found new old stock, which isn't always a good thing with rubber bits. The mod I described works on a readily and cheaply available impeller and only took me about 15 minutes to do...

Hmmm you know Vintageboard.com may even help too. If it's by chance the same impeller that the TN has, then they have them. I've bought good quality parts from them. I see your point in NOS impellers but the last few I bought actually looked pretty good. Infact I sold sammo one for this particular model motor that I ended up not using.

Thanks for the information fellows! I will try the modification of a 54 and up 7.5 impeller as is sounds straight forward enough. Will also keep up the search for NOS just because....
