53 Evinrude fastwin 15hp Carb Question

So, I have been working with a new to me 15hp fastwin. I noticed after my carb rebuild that there is an air bubble at the top of the glass bowl on the bottom of the carb. Is this normal? Wouldn't this cause fuel supply issues? The fuel line is right about the bottom of the filter, maybe a 1/32th of an inch above the bottom of the filter element. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

I'm not an expert on the Fastwins, but I'm going to learn fast as I just picked one up.

I would not be concerned with the air bubble. If it shouldn't be there it will eventually flow through the system. You might get a cough, sputter or even a stall but then it would be ok.

I have an old land rover that has a glass bowl on the fuel pump and I know it is never completely full wehn I R&R it and the system works fine.

I also watch the clear inline fuel filters on my mowers and they always seem to have air in them at one point or another.

The glass will always have air in it on your Fastwin. That is just the way it is, and don't ask me to explain it, 'cause I can't.

Doesn't matter, it will run just fine that way.

I was comparing it to my 56 7.5 fleetwin and it doesn't have an air bubble and thats why I was assuming that it would be a problem. . .

Your Fleetwin should have air in it too. If it doesn't, oh well.....
