Also, the '56 10's are the only year that the hood has "10" metal markers on the hood sides (that I am aware of. Have a spare set if anyone needs)
I don't suppose you would have the front hood emblem for a 58, would you?

'The Kill Button' Ah Hah, mine must be a 58' or above, thanks for that. Are the hi n lo adjustments easy to fix? Cause this motor on my 12 aluminum boat would haul butt. I bought a 9.5 hp put the same prop on it and its like half the speed? The 9.5 is a short shaft, the 10 hp is a long shaft, thinknig this may explain thi diff!

You guys seem to know a lot about swaping parts between year models. Lets see if I can stump you with this one.

This is from a QD-15 1954 Johnson 10 (yes someone painted it) It's the front handel that the tillar arm attaches to. What is this part called? And what other years can I use as a replacement? or am I stuck finding a 1954?
Sorry the pic is a little fuzzy.

Its called a steering bracket. I believe 1953-55 10 hp will fit. However, I can't confirm that until I can consult my parts manuals when I get home on Friday. Someone else my have the exact years.
