54 evinrude 7.5hp pull start

ok so I have a pull start with teeth on the flywheel...then the pull start has a little ring...that has 3 springs..that attach to these little arms that when it is spun....the come out and catch the teeth on flywheel...and spin it. well my main spring broke and had tobget a new one...well when putting back together...i streached one of the three springs...and it never compressed back to normal....so it never pulls the arm out becausw the spring allows too much slack...i am trying to fine a replacement spring....ANYONE know the part num for that?

Easy, it is 202155 pawl spring. You are going to get a shock when you find out the price of that little bugger.

I would look at your local lowes or home depot first. You might find one that will work for a few cents.

OMG! You aren't kidding, FR. I had the recoil apart on the exact same motor yesterday. I noticed someone had over stretched one of them, but they managed to connect it farther up the spring. Sure glad I didn't have to replace it!
