55 rude overheat problem

I have a 55(1976) rude that suffered an overheat. not long afterward and some new parts.(power pak etc.) it wouldnt idle down,just die. found water in bottom piston and only 60 p.s.i. compression. Ovesously I have a leak. Any ideas on where to look ,or shoukd I just pull the head and see what let loose from the overheat? thanks.

well the head gasket is going to have to come off any way. pull the head, most likely you have bad gasket into the cooling system. change tstat while you are there.
