Re: 55hp nissan prop????

being on the back hub i mean toward the motor but that doesnt really matter the only thing on the hub is a A-1 stamp. its an 1987 nissan 55hp. its on a eagle rogue bass boat 15ft. the info i found on line says max rpm on this motor is 5250rpm. i just bought the boat and im in the process of putting on a tach to see where the rpms are. i just need the prop info so i know where im starting from. my local boat shop is the only one around they are less than knowledgable and what they do know they dont want to tell you until you are ready to spend a bunch of money. plus an over abundance of additude to boot. thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: 55hp nissan prop????

Looking at the nissan prop chart a 14 would be a reasonable size prop.
it is in the middle of the chart 2 spaces toward the high side with 5 higher and I think 7 lower.Seems reasonable for a smallish bass boat.A prop shop can measure it for you. You may have to call around for one in your area. With luck you might find one that will let you test props if you intend to buy one. When you get the rpm and speed figures we will at least know roughly how your setup is and which direction you may have to go for a prop.
When testing note if the antivent plate( just above the prop) is visable on plane.
Or on the trailer the plate should be about even with the bottom or about an inch above.
I wouldn't be going to a marina with an attitude even if I had to go 100 miles.
