1977, does the water pump output seal when it connects to the water tube? My water tube is oval shaped at the water pump connection. I have water leaking from the lower mount bracket on the exhaust housing.

Why would the water tube be oval? Could it have been jammed? Is it oval all the way up it's length or just at the bottom end? I believe it shopuld be round and, yes, it will seal inside the rubber grommet at the impeller housing. It's possible it got pinched somehow and is letting water spray upwards toward the powerhead.

its just at the connection and i thought it seemed weird, like it got pinched some how. It doesn't seem like it makes a sealed connection.

You could try reaching up inside the exhaust housing with a small tubing cutter and removing the first few inches of the tube and then take a piece of rubber tubing the right size to use as a splice for adding a cut length of new tubing back on. Chances are good you'll need to replace that grommet anyway.
