'56 Ev Big Twin 30hp electric start questions

Hi Guys, found a guy on craig's list today giving away a 196? 16' Starcraft Comet and a 30hp Big Twin electric start. I gladly picked it up. The boat needs an interior but the hull is in unbelievable shape for its' age. He says he cant get the motor to idle right. I'm sure I could figure that out. My question is how to hook the electric start up. Obviously I hook the positive and negative cables to a battery, but there is one wire coming from the solenoid. Can I hook that wire to a push button starter along with running a positive and negative wire from the push button to the battery so I could try to crank this baby? Will that work? Also, can I swap the tiller handle from a '55 Johnson Seahorse 25hp to the 30hp Ev?

The tiller will work just fine. You have a PM
