56 Evinrude Fleetwin vibrates

I have recently purchased a 7.5 HP '56 Evinrude which I had tuned up and it generally runs great...however, the cowling vibrates noisily at certain mid-range speeds. When I hold my hand and press on the top of the cowling, it quiets down. I was wondering if there are any rubber gaskets or seals for the cowl housing/cover that may be missing or bad? Thanks for your help on this; If I could get this problem corrected, I would 100% satisfied with the motor.

There are four small rubber bumpers, or pads on the left cowling, two at the top, two at the bottom fore, and aft. There is also a rubber bumper at the top of the left cowling that goes into a recess in the rewind housing. These may be hard to find because of the age. If you know someone with a lathe, they would not be hard to make out of nylon plastic.

Sometimes a small chunk of fuel hose will work in a pinch. Get a piece with an I.D. a bit smaller than the nub on which it will have to press on to. Cut to length to give it some cusion and run with it. Can also work as a lower pan gasket, too...

Thanks to all for the helpful hints. I'll need to check out the cowl to see if I can find these bumpers/cushions on the engine and seeif they are worn or missing. It's good to know that replacements are available and improvised replacements can work too.
Right now the motor is anything but an "Aquasonic"

I have a 1957 7.5 hp fleetwin. Everywhere the cowling touches the motor, you should have a rubber cushion. When I bought my motor, one of the rubber cushions was missing and someone had put some silicone where the rubber had been. That seems to work very well.

You might also want to try running the motor without the cowling on because you might have some rattle going on in the starter housing also. Take a look at this thread:
