'57 evinrude 5514 water pump

Does anyone have a part number for the rubber nipple on top of the water pump housing where the copper tubing slides in? Should I use gasket sealer on the water pump housing or lower unit to tower connection? Thanks

don't know the part number but they are a common grommet that any dealer should carry. The OEM kits come with a new grommet. I don't use any sealer when I put mine together as the new gasket should swell and seal. If you are not using a new gasket a thin film of Indian head gasket sealer won't hurt.

I would oil the h*ll out of that grommet, before you stab it. It'll make the job easier and lessens the chance of the tube cutting into it.
