I'm having one heck of a time finding the part number(s) for replacement head gaskets for a '57 18hp Johnson motor, any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: '57 Johnson 18hp gasket help.

do you need the reed block??
what other stuff do you need??
power head gasket kit?
carb kit?
water pump?
coils?
tune up kit?
- i just had to buy all that for my '56 fastwin its a 15 hp but almost all of the parts will interchange so i have all the part numbers (alot of them are superceded by others)
just curious but why do you have the head off?

Pretty sure I have a leaking head gasket, or reed gasket. Could be something else.
My problem is Im only getting power from one piston. I have completely rebuilt the ignition system and the carburator. Pretty much leaves the compression or reeds.

Do you only have compression on one cylinder? What are/were the #'s? If you have compression problems it's on the cylinder side. Not the reeds. So looking at the head gasket is a good idea.
