Nice work Chris! Looks like you are making some quick progress! I remember seeing the graphics earlier this year, love them! I agree on lowering the drain plug, if you can make it the lowest point in the boat. I didn't exactly understand the part about the aluminum stringers...apparently they are creating the void space that is lower than the plug?

Looks like you are making some great progress....it was a little hard to see the pics in photo bucket. When I clicked on them it gave me sharing options, it would have been nice if it would have opened them up....maybe it does and I just haven't figured out how to get that to work.

Thanks arch, I owe you a lot. I love your boat and watched you all last winter. I kinda became a single father with a 5 week old baby boy in the past week so in between bottles I got the transom glassed in Saturday and test fitted the cap. In the next couple of days I should have a rear deck glassed in. How did the tubes work for reinforcing the bow? Can you stand on it?

I'm adding a molded in rear seat and deck. you can see some what by the grinding and the wood.

I wondered what that was, another seat huh? How are you going to finish out the top of the wood? I wonder if you could make a mold off the existing and create a fiberglass "blank" you could add where the new seat goes?

The tubes work excellent, I weigh 210 and walk on it all the time. It was a little tedious to do up in the bow (since I didn't pop the top), but worked great.

I like what you're doin with her!!! Keep the pics comin. Are you going to keep the paint job or go back with something more traditional? I like the idea of dual bench seats. I am going to do the same with mine. Currently in the process of learning to sew so I can make the two tone seat covers.

Ya know I wanted molded in rear seat and a rear deck right. Well I was walking around back, remember you need boat builders vision and resin fumes might come into play.

I bought this 1960 Lone Star for the motor and trailer. Transom was shot and it had no fins sorry but it was put to rest. When I cut it apart (vision & fumes) I thought about making a bar out of the bow so I saved from the dash forward

This is my first time working with fiberglass in this scale and I must say It's pretty easy and a lot of fun being creative. I suggest you have a dive in approach and a little vision (& Fumes)

The rear deck is coming out awesome! Super strong and saved so much time and labor. Here's a few pics. The sanding blocks I found most useful was the sharpie and the cardboard.

A few more pics

First one is the right seat back corner, I think I'm getting close but I ran out of resin again. 3 gallons so far, ordered 2 more.

Second one is the aluminum splash well I thinking of using. Any thoughts or suggestions on this would be very welcomed.

Third is just where I plan on cutting out the deck and molding into the splash well, but I don't want to cut till I figure out what to cut?

That is MY splashwell!!!! I am polishing mine to a chrome finish so my vote is YES use it!!!

I think you should limit what you cut out to the minimum.....what about making a new splash well out of glass? Make a negative of it out of a block of foam, cover it in packing tape, then lay up glass on it? It would be some work, but it would look really slick and fit right in with the piece you have already added. How about a shot from the back showing where the the aluminum splash well would be relative to the new deck?

Based on this Pic I agree with Arch, You should probably fabricate something that would blend with the existing transom cutout and your insert. Your "Glassin" skills should allow you to do that without to much of a problem.

Thank you for the replys about the splash well. I'm going to be making one out of glass now. I just need to find out how far forward my motor goes when tilted all the way up. The transom sits a lot lower than the deck.

You can kinda see in this pic the top of the deck and the transom is level with the bottom of the cap. I will be working on that this weekend.

I did get two gallons of resin yesterday so some work got done!

I also glassed in some pvc pipe to run my cables thru

Good idea on the pipe, you will be amazed at how many wires and cables you have.....I have them running down both gunnels!
