2 barb pump? Which one?

Likely the pump just screws onto the bypass cover. No fitting required, just a gasket. Unless you got a pump that I am not envisioning.

Yes it bolts to the bypass cover, with the gasket that came with it.

Then, you install the 2 fuel lines, 1 in and 1 out. Simple and easy.

you will have to of course follow F_Rs instructions about tapping the 2 holes as well so you can mount the pump. See post 15

Here's a pic of the air line nipple on the carb. Compared to a 1/4 inch bolt to get perspective.
Notice fine thread.

No such thing as a 1959 electric shift.--------One hole would be for the drivepin and the other for a cotter pin to keep the cap on.------Note ---there is no difference in a 40 HP electric shift prop and a standard shift prop.--Picture shows the standard shift lower unit.

Have you already done a compression and spark test,If not that should have been the first thing before considering any thing else.Be areal bummer if you do all this work only to find you have no or poor compression #s.Also carb overhaul if the motor has been sitting a while.

Well I have plenty of spark that is really a surprise considering the shape of the rest of the motor. Waiting for gas line hose then the big day. So far I have about 125.00 invested not bad if the motor runs.

Finaly got all the parts for the motor on sat.Motor tried to start but would not keep running kept flooding out removed carb needed cleaning and one bolt was loose mounting carb on engine.I ordered rebuild kit today next try on wednesday.Going to work on electric start while waiting for carb kit starting by hand is a killer. Thanks for all the information on fuel pump worked good so far.
