Re: 59 Crestliner hardtop resto

These guys may be of some assistance, but got pix of what your working with now? Might find a pix here that will help..

Search thru google images for a 1959 Crestliner w/ a hardtop. I suspect that it's a '59 Crestliner XYZ, that has a hardtop, based on the '59 boats listed here:

Finding a pix may be reference enough to figure out what needs to be done. Look thru all the Crestliners pix in the links I posted above. Maybe a different Crestliner model has similar enough seats to help you out.. There's also a small chance it's not a 1959, so use those brochures & pix to confirm it's a 1959.

This brochure pix is the only reference I've ever read/seen for the removable rear bench seat for my Glastron FireFlite. So ya never know what might be buried in old pix/brochures.........

Which also show an optional hardtop that was available for mine, so it might have 'just' been an option in 1959 for yours....

The 1956 Voyager came in 2 models, Convertible or Hardtop:

Thanx for the info. All I need for the front seat are the dimensions for the seat bottom and seat backs. The hard part is the seat tubes.

Re: 59 Crestliner hardtop resto

I suspect you may need to buy some conduit & make some best guesses about pipe sizes & angles and use some 3/4" or 5/4" boards & mock-up something that 'looks' right, fits in the boat (size, style, etc) & works as a boat seat (comfort may not have been a primary concern originally anyway, it was the 50's)

Hope you find some helpful info...

Re: 59 Crestliner hardtop resto

If the seat & back boards are 3/4" it looks like 1" pipes. As I suggested, mocking it up w inexpensive conduit & maybe plywood would hlelp dimension it. Slightly over 90deg w a 6-8" radius bend would be where I would start.....

Unless you find another owner, it maybe tough to nail down 100% exact replica seats..

But a seat angle over 90 & less then 100 looks like it'd be about right.

Wherever you got that pix can't help?

Looks great, hope you can replicate them for yours..

EDIT: I looked at the pix again, and the pipes may be 1.25-1.5" rather then 1". The wood parts look to be mahogany plywood, the edge banding is a solid color, so that may save on work & costs.

Good looking boat. Seems very similar to the '56 brochure I posted....

Cool boat. Looks like the one that was on the Green Bay Craigslist. Thought about picking that one up for myself. Welcome to iboats.
