6 hp Evinrude Fisherman

I have a 6 hp Evinrude fisherman. This is the serial number: 6302SJ 04726. Can anyone tell the year of the motor by looking at the serial number? And also, it does not have an air filter. Is it supposed to? If so, where can I find one to purchase.

No air filter due to the clean, dust free environment they operate in. Not sure about the year but if you go to the forums FAQ there are links there that will help. Best of luck. Rick.

6302 is a 1973 6 HP
No air filter. No dirt on the water to worry about.

Seriously? There's no filter because the air is cleaner on the water? I was wondering the same thing about my '64 Johnson 3hp Seahorse....shouldn't there be *something* to keep bugs and crap out?

That's the way they are made and carb. issues are mostly related to gas and gas lines not too many complaints of bug although I'm sure it does happen. Rick.
