6 Hp evinrude help

I need to know the year, gas mixture and normal compression level for this motor.
Evinrude
6 hp, model 6704 m
J0011535- serial

Engine will run then die or bog down then be fine the last owner said he ran it without oil in gas. any ideas for repair?

Ran w/o oil? Really and truly? I'm surprised it's still standing.

I think any readings you get from the standard measures will not be meaningful as this motor has not worn normally. The real damage had been done in the lower end. Compression readings will only confirm the problem if bad, or mislead you if they're good.

This motor needs a complete rebuild regardless of what the numbers tell you.

I agree totaly, that thing is a time bomb. Rebuild.

I agree that if it truly WAS ran without oil, it is toast. But the fact that it runs and bogs down intermittantly says that is probably not the problem. Take the side covers off the powerhead and look in at the sides of the pistons. If it was ran without oil, it will be very obvious.

we beleive we will need to replace the rings. your info will help. I still need to know the year of this model so I can order parts. thank you for your help.
