You have a 1967 model, fuel/oil ratio is 50:1. this motor was made by Chrysler.

Great, Thanks for the info. It's going to be the trolling kicker on my 1959 Lyman. Now if I can only get the Johnson 35 horse to run properly......

Hi Porto
Parts are available for anything, it just depends on how far you are willing to go to get them. The good news is that most service parts for your motor are readly avail. A Merc dealer, a still opperating former Chrysler dealer, Napa auto parts can order them,I-boats. Other hard type parts, housings, heads, shafts, etc you will be better off to find used in most cases.

Thanks alcan, this motor was run very little before it was given to me, but, being nearly 40 years old, I don't know if that is good or not. I'm thinking the impeller should be changed if it is readily available, especially considering the trouble I'm having with the coolng system on my 58 Johnson. Thanks again.

Hi Porto
The actual manufacture date of an outboard has very little to do with it's age. My guess is the average person doesn't have enough time in their life to wear out an outboard. Breakage and abuse don't count. Reading these forums one might tend to think differently. Remember this is a concentration of problems from all over the world. Outboard are fairly though machines, they do a lot of work and put up with conciderable abuse. Mostly due to the ignorance of the opperators and lack of maintaince. So long as a motor is mechanicly sound you can service it, and run it with confidence. It will be just as liable to break down on you as a brand new motor. Fourty years old in outboard years is just young adult. You are correct give your 6hp the full treatment empeller and all. Then enjoy it.
