6 Hsp Chrysler - Spits gas out of carburetor

I recently picked up a 1980 Chrysler 6 that was used only a few times. It looks like new. I removed the carb and took the bowl off to see if it was clean. It was spotless inside. In running it I notice that it appears to spit gas out of the small chamber below the intake when it's running. Any ideas on why it does that. It's a pretty simple carb. thanks

Could be the float level.Most likley the pump needs rebuilding.Or the needle/seat is dirty.
Possibly the reeds.J

Found out it has been running on one cylinder. Possibly two intermittently. Runs pretty good on the one cylinder. Anyhow, I think that may be causing the spitting. I ordered (from I Boats) a condenser and I'll let you know if that was the problem. I dressed the points again. If it's not the condenser it will have to be the coil. If it is the coil I'm thinking of doing the OMC coil transplant onto the existing field. It looks like the field is pressed onto the magplate. It's not screwed down. Any pointers for removing it without doing any damage to the two points that the field is pressed onto? I'll let you know the outcome after I receive the condenser. Thanks again for the input.

1. Is the system simple enough to switch the points/condensers to see if the problem will switch cylinders?

2. Are you double checking the gap and conditions of your points. Personally, I have not seen a bad condender vs wrong condensers affecting points. Bad points have been my #1 experience since 1970. jow

Oops! Did you check the cylinders compression? It takes Fire, Fuel, and Compression for good results. jow

The points are good. The motor is almost new so the points have no wear time. I know that it's rare for a bad condenser but I thought I'd rule that out before going after the coil. Besides, I need a new condenser for a couple of other Scott/Elgin/Firestone's I'm trying to resurrect. I'll let you know what happens. thanks
