I previously posted about a clacking vro pump. The vro pump was disabled a few years ago and I premix my fuel. I first heard the noise on sunday after using the boat then went to pick it up at the marina tonight and I could not get it to make the noise again.

When I originally heard the noise on sunday my 6 gallon fuel tank was almost empty. Tonight I ran it with a full tank on board. Could the clacking be from the pump starving for gas? Could the clacking be a sign that the fuel/vro pump is about to die?

I ran the boat tonight wide open for about fifteen minutes with no clacking.

I need to decide if it is necessary to remove the vro/fuel pump and replace it with just a fuel pump?

Any suggestions would really help me out.

Thank You
Brian

Your description describes running the pump dry, the engine will continue to run on the fuel in the bowls for a short while. Then adding fuel to the tank made it go away, I guess it needs fuel eh.:p
