I need to replace the reeds on my motor. 1989-1992 60 HP 3 Cylinder Johnson. I would really like to use OEM quality reeds for this...rather than an aftermarket brand...but dont know how important the quality of reeds are. I know mercury used to sell some racing reeds for really cheap before. But they aren't the best for idle...I do a lot of idleing in the waters I use my boat in.

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of how much replacing the reeds for my motor would be? Or somewhere to look to buy them?

The Boyesen reeds are one popular option, opposed to OEM

The boyesens are a good choice if you spend a lot of time from idle-mid. According to those that run them, they won't help much on the top end, but sure sweeten those middle and low spots out.

Sounds like the boyesons are the way to go for me. I found a set brand new on ebay for around $60. Does that seem about right?

$60 is about right, from what I've seen out there. I got mine from a guy in Pine Bluff AR, on ebay. You have a PM.

Make sure you get the instructions that go with them. There's some re-jetting tips in there. You'll need to richen up the midrange/idle a couple of sizes or you'll blow out your new reeds with lean sneezes.
