I have an Evinrude 5.5 that I was running today in our "test barrell" and I was surprised at the amount of crud that remained afterward. I am new to boating and this may be normal but looks like these motors pollute a bit....I will d/c the lower unit in the morning but appears to be residue from running. The motor is running less than perfect...looks like I will need a carb rebuild soon as it is "loading up" a bit. Can run it, but I know it can run better. I have a parts book and owners manual but service manual for this motor is hard to find. I have worked with carbs before but not outboards, is this motor difficult to overhaul a carb on?
