62 75hp evinrude electric shift wont trun?

So I was given a boat and motor for free and I want to fix it to see if it will run. It been out in the weather for 6 years and not start. I put some mystery oil in the cylinders been sitting the for days now. Will trun right and left about an half inch. I looked up the model and this one has the electric shift so if it is in forward or reverse will it rotate? And if not how do I put it in neutral? Or is the lower unit sized up?

I know it needs the control and junction box I dont have them hooked up yet as they need rewired just trying to see if this motor is worth saving.

The electric shift defaults to neutral. Unless it is full of water and rust. Maybe that's why you got it for free?

Drop the lower unit, then you'll know if it's gear case or the power head froze up.

Don't forget to disconnect the electrical shift wires.
