i bought this tinny for a hundred bucks. had a small hole that i patched. when i pulled the old reg stickers off the first dated sticker is 1962. my guess is this is when it was new as the backside was fresh and clean. the old manufacturers plaque has fallen off and i just wanted to see if anyone here would guess as to the brand/make.
as you can see i mounted a 15 off the back and plan on having 3-4 people in the boat. will be using this in the sierras, small little alpine lakes.
much thank yous

The crease in the topside looks familiar. Maybe Star Craft, though the transition from stem to keel seems a little primitive.
The molded in spray rail I think was a Starcraft feature.
It seems small and certainly over powered with a 15.
Transom appears barely 15" and the motor is probably way too deep in the water.Too much drag.

thanks. yes i figured it was a little overpowered. i wasnt going out for performance, or i would have raised the transom. i have a merc 7.5 but it needs a diaphram/fuel pump so the evi is all i have laying around that runs. i was looking on cl for a used 4 or 6hp but everyone wanted too much for them or it was a long drive away. sometime i regret selling my 4hp lightwin as it would have been perfect. figured as long as i dont run the motor too hard it should be ok on the tinny.
she weeps at the transom due to the water proofing sealing stuff is old and brittle (kinda like me :)) and should be cleaned out and resealed with caulk.
thank you for clearing the mystery up for me.

I don't see any knees/gussets on the transom so 15hp might be a bit much. I had a 1973 14' tinny and it was placarded for 12hp. My current 14' 1970 MirroCraft tinny does have knees/gussets and is placarded for 25hp. I'm running a 1959 Evinrude 18hp and will GPS out around 22mph @ 3500' elevation. You can see one of the knees/gussets to the right of the seat and dog. Much more support for the transom this way.

thanks for the heads up. i just bought this boat for a week long vacation. not really attached to it. long story short i had another tinny, sea nymph that i sold for 100, no papers riveted that had a really nice transom, with gussets but i was too lazy to replace the wood. that ol boat had a "T" style wood transom on both sides along with a gusset on the center. so i sold the boat, because of the motor vehicle pain in the butt, and got this one. the boat is out of the system (last reg showed 75) and sat in a barn since then. im really not sure if i plan on keepin her. would have loved to have a western 14 footer welded, but alas this is all that was around at the time. she is in pretty good shape considering the age. as for the leaks, only place is the transom where the sealant has dried out. not beat up too bad. dont know where you are located but this was a steal at 100 bucks. yes shes almost as old as i, needs gussets, a little paint, and the wood replaced, but after all it is a fishing boat? gotta get her broken in sunday :)
