Should the choke butterfly be completely closed when pulling the choke control knob out?? I have always used the electric start in the past but realized i had a dead battery so i went to manual start and pulled and pulled and pulled until it finally started. After i got home I "pulled" the cover off and looked at the butterfly and it wasnt completely closed, but close. I have good spark, compression and the fuel bulb pumped up firm. any insight would be helpful.

The choke closes off almost all air supply to the engine. So yes, it should be completely closed in order to perform its primary function.
