Bought it last yr,would start and run great for about 45 seconds. Bought fuel pump kit and carb kit, cleaned real good, used compressed air, reassembled, adjusted per instructions, double checked everything. It will start and idle for MAYBE 30 seconds and die like it has no fuel. Checked everything from tank to float bowl, all looks good. Any ideas???
UPDATE!!!!!!!
Problem appears to be check valve on inlet side of fuel pump....can this be cleaned or is it just as easy to order new kit?

You can get parts from www.oldmercs.com and if the fuel pump hasn't been rebuilt in the past 40+ years, it might be worth replacing the parts as long as you're in there. On the other hand, mine is original and still works fine.

You can diagnose fuel delivery problems by pumping the primer bulb when it starts to die and see if that helps. If so, then the problem is fuel delivery. If not, may be a different problem.

I rebuilt fuel pump and carb. Recleaned everything and reassembled. New fuel lines. If I squeeze primer when it starts to die it'll run a little longer. Possible air leak????

How are the hose and primer primer bulb? These can leak and air gets into the lines. Unhook the hose, pump the primer and see if it leaks under pressure. Inspect the fuel lines on the motor. Recheck everything, assume nothing!
