Re: 63 starcraft

My Jupiter was rated at 85HP. I'd prolly run the Merc. I feel the ideal motor for a Jupiter would be a nice 3 cylinder.

Re: 63 starcraft

hello all, not sure if I should ask this here but can anyone tell me what my 63 100hp merc OB would be worth if I sell it. I will be going to a smaller engine 50 to 75hp and according to the PO it needed fuel pump and I think I will try to fix them with a rebuild kit and try to get it running so I need some input please and thanks.

I think those old Mercs have some parts support issues. I personally wouldn't buy one because of that. I'd probably list it at $500 and see what I could get.

that'as going to be a hard motor to sell, unless you happen to live where people love old merc's.
I'd keep looking

Yes that's what I thought. when I or if I sell it do the controls go with the engine and I get new ones when I get another engine. or can I use the controls I have with a different engine. I am still confused as how that works.

Unless you get an engine of the same vintage (not advisable) your controls and wiring will not work. Those older inline mercs do not fetch much money but they are great motors.

The vintage Merc controls will work on another vintage Merc...if you bought a newer Johnson or Evinrude(which I'm planning on doing:)) you would likely get OMC controls with the outboard.

Re: 63 starcraft

If you can get it running for not too much $$ then I'd do it. A running outboard is going to be worth probably twice as much as a non-running one. Hey, it IS a 100HP outboard. Someone may pay some good bucks for it. Ya never know.
