I'd like to know the best way to start a repair like this. Is the best way to remove the top or just cut away as much as I need to get to it? I've pulled off some of the metal edging and it appears that the top is bonded to the hull. (a flange joint I think it's called). I also have a leak in the keel of the boat. It will drip on the driveway for 2 days after I have it in the water. Any thoughts anyone?

Ayuh,.....

Usually after you pull the Rub Rail off,... There's screws or Rivets holding the 2 pieces together.....

Thanks for the info, the "good reading" was exactly that. It looks like I'm in for a lot of work. I've read a few entries about removing the top, but am still puzzled. I haven't seen a step by step process for doing that. I've removed the rub rail and the screws and T nuts but the two haves are bonded and there is a 3" wide band of material on the inside that has been glassed in to hold them together. Looks like a dog to cut through. I'm thinking of using a demo saw and a thin blade. Can you tell I'm a newbie. Once I get the lay of the land and a feel for the materials I think I'll be OK. I'm good with tools , done a couple home renos, car repair, body work, plumbing, electrical, welding, machining and other stuff , but all non- proffessional. So thanks in advance for the help, and I'll try not to ask anything too Duh-mmm

Somebody shoot me! I need to untie the anchor and tie it to a new boat. Looks like a total rebuild for me. I pulled up the carpet and the floor is totally gone. Did some of the reading suggested here and see that I have a few hundred hours of work.To bad I dont have the money for the new boat. But I'm Cheap and just Duh mmm enough to keep going. I'll post Pics if I ever figure out how. Thanks again for the direction.

Say anyone done a job on this model boat?? Its a 1964 Sweet 16 by OMC
