Re: 64 18ft starcraft holiday

well got a little bit done even though my help finked on me to hunt easter eggs
sanded down the trailer , painted it with the rustoleum rust paint and one coat of black, have one more and the trailer will be done also got the boat flipped and ready to sand down the bottom. picked up some rivets but they didn't have the size i need for the floor at home depot so i will stop at fastenall sometime this week and pick some up also have all my engine parts here that i ordered, just waiting on my 2 12gal fuel tanks and the epoxy to show up going to fiberglass the the splashwell side of the transom, i think. oh well back to the grind tomorrow and posted more pics at my photobucket account

Re: 64 18ft starcraft holiday

figured you would the top will be gloss white when i get done.
i'm super stoked as i found a complete axle for the trailer for under $100 , i figured it was going to cost me at least twice that for a new axle and hubs , bearings. i took apart the hubs and found that i had a bearing spin on the spindle , could have had a bad time on the way back from picking it uo, boat could have ended up in a field :D:D

matt love the windshield on yours , i may have to do mine like that ,except it will be a walkthrough. well started in on the motor got the carbs soaking and pulled the lower unit to change out the water pump, found the old one had pretty much disintegrated and in the process of that found the seal on the shaft was bad as well so have to order that as well. also went to get the title transfered and well didn't get that done either as the boat doesnt have a h.i.n. on the title so will have to get watercraft to inspect it and give it a hin what a p.i.a . feel like i'm just spinning my wheels on this boat right now, at least i got my new axle and tnt motor on the way.

well paint is finished and transom back in. started putting it back together finally. i also remounted the engine today, well at least most of it , waiting on a seal kit for the lower unit and then it can go back together. hopefully will have some decent weather this week so i can finish coating the floor and hit the inside with gluvit and start putting the interior back together.

Re: 64 18ft starcraft holiday

finally got her out on the water today , only had a few problems first off i put the steering together wrong, that confused the heck out me for a minute till i figured out what was wrong, so i beached the boat got out a wrench and flipped the steering. also the tnt wouldn't tilt all the way down so had a pretty bumpy ride and also had to adjust the shift cable so it would go into reverse, other than that she runs pretty strong and doesn't take on too much water, always get alot cause of the cast net. will post some pics later just real tired after being out in the heat and sun all day.

What did you find out about your 135 johnson? I picked up a 1975 135 johnson for my 18ft starcraft and I have no idea if she runs.
Thanks Brian

Re: 64 18ft starcraft holiday

Don't feel bad I have installed my steering backwards as well...I drove the boat that way for a little bit too.

Got any photos of her on the water?

Hope the trim/tilt issue wasn't hard to correct.:)
