Re: '64 Dart?????

Does anyone know of a source for an original bow light lens for the Dart, or know of a method/material to make one? I'd hate to replace the unit with a cheesy modern looking one. I'm thinkin maybe I can butcher one or two pairs of 3D glasses and glue 'em into the unit...

Vintage bow lights show up on ebay fairly often, with mild to severe pitting, and you might find 1 that looks very similar & just replace the whole light you have now. My 1963 (we think) Jet has glass lenses, 1 blue 1 red. W/ a yellow bulb, red gets a slight orange tint, blue glows green. Is your 1 surviving lens glass or plastic, red or blue/green.

There is also a classified section at Fiberglassics.com. You might look there too.

The guy I bought mine from said he added the lights and that they didn't come on the boat originally (brochure backs this up). I'm going up to the cottage this weekend and I'll come back with a million pictures, got so excited last weekend that I ended up just using the thing instead of taking pictures haha, imagine that.

I'm worried I'm getting sucked into the Starmada, just saw an ad for an awesome 65 Jet Star that looks fairly original, must resist haha.

look in the "starcraft parts" section. there may be someone who is unloading a pitted old light you could cannibalize lenses from.

Zach most of the lights and hardware on the old 60's era Starcrafts were made by folks other than starcraft. So any period correct light will do just fine and they are on eBay fairly regularly. I sent mine to be chromed and then found one on ebay that I could stick a small flagpole in so I swapped them out.

That's a nice lookin Dart I guess, but it doesn't look anything like the 66 Dart I had. Sorry, I've been trying not to do this since I first saw this thread.

Looks like he got a free pair of kids, a few years apart :) Wait 6 or 7 years to start the resto, and you'll have 4 extra helping hands while working. Any earlier, you'll still have 4 extra hands, just may not be helping

I like both Darts:cool: Hemi would just be a bonus

That was the original slant 6 235. 3 on the tree. Those cars were a bit small for a hemi I think. I'd never heard of a dart boat, but I guess there's a lot I haven't heard about. It is a nice lookin little boat too. And I'll give you odds the kid wasn't and won't be free. Probably for at least the next 30 years.

That old Dodge was too light to pull a boat. You could get rubber in all 3 gears, cause the rear end was so light. 2 people could pick up the rear end and move it.. Those were rear wheel drive too. My old 56 Buick (first car I ever owned) had a 4 something engine in it, and had enough weight in it to pull most things. It was a tank. Shortly after the movie Bullet came out with Steve McQueen, I learned not to try to jump with it. I did find the oil pan, but wasn't worth putting back on. And take good care of those kids. They're gonna be what's keeping you out of a nursing home sometime.
