65-66 Evinrude 90hp w/electric shift

I've heard bad things about electric shift. The motor is on a classic boat I plan to restore. I am told everything works. Can it be converted to manual shift if it goes out? Can you still get parts? Do I just keep my fingers crossed?

Those electric shifts were actually quite good . The problem today is finding a shop that will work on them. Make sure to pressure test the seals and use type-c gear oil . At least there are no linkages to go out of adjustment.
