I have a 64 and a 65 9.5 sportwin. the 65 carb leak gas out the side of the carburator casing tube which does not seem to have the end sealed like the 64. without a parts diagram i can't quite describe but the flow/leak is not actually in the carb but the cast iron tube just to the side of where the flow mixture needle valve threads into the casing. Can anybody make sense of this question and problem?
thanks

I'm not familiar with the 65 carb. but I would suggest your needle isn't seating allowing the carb. to overfill. I would do a kit on it and see if that fixes the problem. Rick.

Thanks Rick for the quick reply. Carb kit could be the answer. I am hoping to get a copy of the parts catalog that applies to this bugger so i can describe more accuratly the problem. I have never done a carb kit before so i will learn as i go. Do you know where to go to find these old engine parts?
Thanks

An OMC dealer should be able to fix you up with a kit. Very important to get it meticulously clean. See the top of this forum for Top Secret File and there are cleaning directions in there. In my 73 carb. the needle just sat on the float arm. The new kit has a metal clip that actually connects the needle to the float. I like that better and someone said it was an OMC engineered correction. My kit came with a new float as well although it was still a cork float which surprised me a bit. Rick.
