My friend has a 15 foot whaler with an older, maybe 80's model 65 hp twin evinrude.
It starts fine from cold, runs fine at cruising speed for maybe 1/2 mile, then starts
loosing rpm's, and starts surging, maybe at a rate of one surge per second. At this
point it doesn't seem even to idle well. We tried changing plugs, same thing happened.
Can we spray something into the carbs when it starts surging to see if problem is fuel
related? Probably won't happen when in the driveway on the muffs, tho not sure.
simonmeridew

Try squeeze the primer bulb. If it picks up it's time for a fuel pump kit.

we tried squeezing the primer bulb. It's hard as a rock. BTW, it's an '84 motor.
simonmeridew
