65 hp.Evinrude Triunph,Johnson Looper parts swap?

I'm not shure the year a friend found out my looper blew up and is giving me it.I will post the model #'s later today when i pick it up,my question is can i use parts from this motor for the looper? I beleive the powerheads are the same x-cept this one could be a crossflow,can I use the cases? L/U's the same big gearcase.this one knocks but hasnt come through the cases.George

George.... You need to be percise in describing the motors involved ie the exact horsepower, year, make, model numbers. As it stands, no one could possibly have any idea of what engines you're speaking of, excepting one is a 65hp Evinrude/Johnson something or other.
