Hello, I have this 9.5 that ive only used a few times but have never noticed the carb leaking like it is today. If I can get the pic to load it will show the starboard side where the fuel line (rubber) connects to the carb and to the right of that is a round tube like piece that is part of the carb itself. well on the end of it is a hole where when running gas leaks out. Sorry I dont have a manual for this motor so any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Dean

It says the file exceeds the limit. I just dont get it. Hopefully someone will know what im talking about without a pic.

Update I got it to load

Wow im surprised nobody has any ideas why this is leaking. Sure could use some help here. I've been off work for two months after knee replacement surgery with a meager disability each week or otherwise i would take it in. Im keeping the faith, Thanks, Dean

A trifle impatient aren't we?

However two possibilities to consider:
  • That the hole should be plugged and the plug has fallen out
  • That is the float chamber vent and fuel is leaking out because the carb is flooding. That could be because the needle valve is stuck or has dirt in it preventing it closing properly or the float has stuck or if it is hollow type is punctured and has sunk.
Just ideas to investigate.

ditto, get a carb rebuild kit, it sounds like needle valve is not working properly and gas is coming out of the vent hole.

Thamks you guys. I apologise for my lack of paitence, it seems I have too much time on my hands right now. Vic, I tried holding my finger over the hole while it was running and it dies, sounds like a needle valve issue= a carb kit. Thanks again.

That's the float bowl vent tube. If fuel is leaking out there you need to do some work on the float.

I concur. Carb vent and a carb kit will help it out.

Well I took the top of the carb off and noticed the floatl was sticking in the up position, the pin holding it is plastic and was very tight keeping the float from doing its thing. So I made a temp one out of a piece of nail which allowed the float to move freely and wha la no more leak. You guys are great thank you very much. Also after letting it run for 5 min or so it seemed to me anyway that the head was getting kinda hot but it seemed to be pumping water ok. I took a couple of pics, one at a low idle (2ndpic) the other about half way. What do you think does that look like sufficient water? Thanks again
