1966, 6 hp Evinrude: I have a reference manual at home that calls for one type of spark plug (J4J?) and at the local marine store the Champion reference chart calls for a different plug (RJ8C?). I'm at work so I can't remember the exact plug #'s. What am I supposed to use???

Hi,
Try a J4C (or a J6C if it burns real dark). The RJ8C is a resistor gap plug - don't use it...
- Scott

b22smith - Do not use a RJ8C plug! It is way too hot for that engine, and it's a resistor plug. Use only a champion J6J, now known as a Champion J6C. The resistor variant of that plug (RJ6C) will make less electronic noise, but may misfire at high rpms.

Good luck!

(Pardon, Chinewalker!)
