'66 Johnson 100 slips out of gear

I have a 1966 Johnson 100 OBM, runs and idles well but appears to slip out of gear under load @ approximately 1200rpm. This is the "electramatic" gear box, it does run at low rpm in forward and reverse. Relatively new fuel pump, voltage regulator and battery. No obvious breaks/shorts in the green and blue wiring to the magnets. Seems almost as if the prop ahd become dengged rather than the clutch engaging. Any ideas? Thans for your time Greer

Greer.... Either the prop hub is slipping (checked by installing a spare prop), or the "Spring" is slipping on the "Hub" (gearcase internal components). Both are common problems, but unfortunately the latter is an expensive one.

Thanks Joe. May be wishful thinking but I took the old prop off and there was some crumbly rubber inside that looked like it was once a bushing and there was some grooving on the face of the prop hub (but the pin wasn't shinny like it had been grinding) I'll try the new prop, thanks very much for you help. It was the prop Joe! Ran like a top for about half an hour. Didn't seem to get past about 2500 rpm but power OK for a 17ft boat and may have been a bit either gunked up due to improper storage or leaky seal on fuel line to engine. It then swallowed a brush on the starter so I am back to the drawing board. Will a standard two brush repair kit work on this vintage? I am actually having fun trying to get the old girl to run.
