I was given this beautiful 66 LoneStar Del Ray from my neighbor. It was last registered in 85 and had been sitting in a tidal marsh for the whole time. I brought it back to my house and hooked my 18hp Nissan to it to bring it to the ramp (2 miles lol). I get it to the ramp and hauled it home. Upon closer inspection of tone hull the transom and bottom of the boat was completely shot and corroded from the marsh. Instead of scrapping the boat I ordered some sheet aluminum to make a new bottom and transom. Bought too thick of aluminum (.100) but after 2 weekends of beating the living daylights out of it, it was formed the best I could get it. Riveted it in and just started stripping the old paint off.
I will continue to post updates along with pics.
Also, I bought a 66 Johnson Super Seahorse 33hp RXLE-14D for $180 with controls couple of props and a semi spare lower unit (cracked and unusable bit still good for parts). With a cleaned carb and fresh fuel hooked up the battery and it started right up. Just installed new plugs, a impeller, carb rebuild kit, lower unit seal kit, & new control cables.
