Re: '66 Starcraft, My first boat!
I have seen alot of rotten boats being almost given away, one I picked up had a twin of my FIL's engine (evinrude 85), a great trailer, and the windshield currently sitting on my starcraft.
Guy was trying really hard to get the price higher.
then his wife drove up, he got a beaten look on his face, and accepted our offer
He had to tell his wife that look I sold it!
then she ran the sale from there
I think we could of gotten it for free if we had showed up later...
Then another $3 for the local dump.
and had my FIL help me rip the boat off of the trailer, and then took home a very sturdy trailer
The engines that are going to be used on my Starcraft Jetstar after I replace the transom this winter I got in the same way.
My merc 65hp, the guys wife was running the whole thing, they put a really low price on a good looking outboard with controls.
When I went to see it I spoke with the guy, he had put a bunch of money in the engine and I guess he had spent to much $, wife stepped in and made him sell before he spent any more money.
and It's a good thing she did, he thought it needed a $200 part, but the whole issue was rotten connectors.
When looking at cheap boats, I will not even look at a glasser unless it has an engine, and I'm usually not intrested if the engine is pre 1973.
tin boats are another story though...
Toast, i see boats like that being GIVEN away all the time on a "just get it out of my yard to get the wife or HOA off my back" basis if they don't have a motor. i'm with EZ.....saw away.
