Hello,

I have a 68 14ft Larson all American with a 40hp Evinrude Lark. The motor weighs about 150 pounds and the Transom is starting to fail on this old boat. It looks to me like the Transom has sandwiched plywood so I will have to put some plywood on the outside. I don't want to mess with weight issues and do this incorrectly.
My question is: Is there a formula for Re-enforcing the Transom?
Thanks in advance,
Ken

Minimum transom thickness is 1-3/8", Maximum is 2". If you've got transom problems you had better replace it rather than covering rot up with more plywood. There's lots of good information in the Project Boat forum.
