Converting to longshaft and I installed my long tubes into the adapter plate (powerhead removed) all back together now and just going through a dry run for alignment of the tubes into the waterpump ect. All was going great until I realized that during the shuffle I may have gotten them reversed up in the adapter plate, is there a way I can verify they are in the correct right and left orientation on the powerhead, maybe be shooting air psi up the tubes or water?
I'm still at the point it wouldn't be too much trouble to go back and remove the adapter plate, The manual I have is nothing but a parts list.

Re: 67' 60hp watertube question

Hoo boy, there was a time I could have answered that question, but too many years and too many gray hairs have erased the answer. I want to say that the tube from the pump goes to the starboard side, but there is about a 50% chance I'm wrong.

But I hope you didn't go to all that work just to install a long shaft. All you had to do was use a couple of 303563 water tube extensions.

EDIT: After some research, I am now about 95% sure I am right. Tube from pump goes to the starboard side.

Re: 67' 60hp watertube question

Thank you, yes you were correct in saying the waterpump outlet tube goes to the starboard side of the adapter, when I went out to look it was evident that the waterpump outlet is offset to that side as you say, and of course as usual I'm backwards so i went out and switched them. One more question?
When I seperated the adapter for the second time I wasn't as lucky and the gasket tore, I'm not realy wanting to wait for another one so I've just mobbed it up with a form a gasket, is there anything critical to the engine running if this gasket leaks a little, other than the water passages. I mean isn't it just crankcase gases in there?

Oh yea, the exhaust housing it was full of broken bolt bolts and also someone had drilled a bunch of holes in the steering block area to attemp a repair so I got rid of it, i have two motors and using the best parts from the two, so it wasn't a total waste of time.
