This 67 evinrude 80hp wont crank. Replaced the coil and still no crank. If I take the hot wire from the battery right to the starter it cranks. Thoughts?

Why did you replace the coil? It has nothing to do with the starter. None whatsoever. It fires the plugs only after the starter has spun the engine. So -- you have either a bad solenoid or the 12 volt current path from the engine, up the harness, to the ignition switch "B" terminal, out the "S" terminal and back to the solenoid is bad, or the ignition switch itself is not making contact (B to S terminal in the start position). Don't buy parts "hoping" its the problem. Check them.

Sorry I miss spoke. The solenoid was what was replaced. I am posting this for a friend. to quote from and email he sent. " when the key is switched on i get voltage on all posts of the solenoid" If it was the ignition switch would this still be the case.

When you turn the key to the start position you should get 12. Volts
To the small post with yellow wire & cable going to starter
12. Volts on battery cable side all the time
Other small solenoid post grounded.
Make sure small yellow & black are on the right posts.
