67 Johnson 20hp starting problem

I was given a 67 20hp by a co-worker. Clean motor ran good 1 yr ago. rebuilt and cleaned carb, replaced impeller, cleaned points and re-gapped, new plugs. all before trying to crank it. Now it won't crank and I am getting frustrated. Duck season half way over and no way to get to them! I think I may not be getting spot. Can someone tell me where to check first? Any help will be appreciated!!!!

Go to the Engine FAQs forum (top of this section) and do "Outboard won't start". That will identify what system the fault is in.

What do you mean it wont crank? Will it not physically pull over? If it does, do a compression test to get the numbers.

compression is good, just like it is not getting any fire or something.
