So I made a little wishing well out of mortite and tipped the motor way back to get it sort of level. A shot of PBB didn't stick around long. Was hoping it wasn't just leaking out. Guess not, because after a few hours and about 6 or 7 shots I went out to find it filled to the top! Still like that after sitting all night, so think it's safe to assume the bore is filled with the magic elixer. Going to try to back it out by tapping it CCW with a small pointed punch. If that doesn't work, out comes the welder. Pretty confident I can get it out now. Thanks for all the help gentlemen.

Hot damn, I got it! On only my 2nd attempt. Welded a washer to the stub, then welded a nut to the washer. Thanks for the tips and moral support.

the real fun on these starts when you need to take off the exhaust to clean the carbon out. 9 out of 10 of these have horrible carbon buildup from hours of slow trolling on inferior oil. those tiny #10 flathead aluminum screws will just snap if you dont take a week to get em out

That's nasty. No way to dissolve that stuff so you don't have to pull it apart? This motor like just about every one I find, seems to have not been used much. We only get about 5 months of good boating weather. People use it a half dozen times for a year or two, put in the back of garage and forget about it. This came out of a barn after the old boy died. His daughter naturally didn't want it.

Actually it wasn't that bad I just used a small scrapper for the big chuncks and while the GC was off I ran a stiff BBQ brush with SS bristles down the exhaust section. I suspect if one wanted to do a 100% clean job a good pressure washer would blast the crud away real nice butall I did was use the BBQ brush I reshaped to shove down the exhaust section.

no i meant in the powerhead itself. the exhaust cover and plate. if the tuner/tube in the midsection looks like that, imagine whats on the exhaust side of powerhead! and for that you do need to remove the plate as you will get crud in the cylinders
